Also, the following are some common-sense suggestions for auditioning. They may seem very logical, but are YOU doing all of them at every audition?
First, remember that your audition begins the moment you walk through the door. Your conduct and actions are noticed by someone who has something to do with the success of your outcome.
Arrive early to acclimate yourself to your surroundings.
Come prepared with the correct shoes, attire, resumes, headshots, sheet music, towel, and water.
Look your best by wearing flattering clothes. Avoid baggy pants and shirts. Apply tasteful makeup and have your hair pulled away from your face.
Absolutely no gum, no gum, no gum!
Remain quiet and attentive at all times. The director and choreographer will be providing you with lots of information and it is very disrespectful to give them anything less than your full attention.
Do not be afraid to ask questions, but make sure you are not inquiring about something that has already been clarified by the director. Once again, paying attention and listening carefully is crucial to your success.
Go to as many auditions as possible. There is something important to be learned at each one.
Finally, believe in yourself, smile, and have fun! Your perseverance will pay off!
